We designed the Chiaro & Piuma Nanoindenters to enable researchers to measure a broad range of different samples! And they did! Already 24 scientific journal articles are published this year!

Cells and Tissues:

• Alteration in stiffness of corneal epithelium, basement membrane and stroma with age and obesity
• Cell nucleus – the mechanical role of lamins and chromatin
• CyPhyGels and  human primary atrial fibroblasts
• Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) cultured in control, OGM and cholesterol sulfate-containing media
• Chondrocyte microspheroids at 7D, 14D and 21D of culturing and articular cartilage tissue

Hydrogels, Gels and Polymers:

• Gels with changing viscoelastic properties over time
• Alginate-Matrigel nanohybrid hydrogels for encapsulation of gingival mesenchymal stem cells
• CLC hydrogels for neural tissue engineering
• Tunable swelling and deswelling GO-PNIPAM composite hydrogels
• PDMS before and after irradiation with low-energy singly-charged inert ions
• Nanofibers coated with Shish-kebab structures at various PCL solution concentrations to mimic collagen fibrils during endothelialization in tissue-engineered blood vessels
• Polyacrylamide gel hybrids with an anisotropic stiffness gradient mimicking mechanical tissue interface for tuning cell pathology and tissue homeostasis typical for carcinoma invasion and metastasis

Coatings and Films:

• A catechol-mediated and copper-incorporated multilayer coating to mimic endothelium-function
• Micropatterned poly(D,L-lactide-co-caprolactone) (PLCL) films with surface-anchored graphene oxide nanosheets for peripheral nerve regeneration
• MeCbl-Loaded PLCL Films for the facilitation of peripheral nerve regeneration
• Electrospinning fibrous membranes (50um thickness) used for a tissue-engineered trachea
